Sold house prices by postcode: what homes actually sold for in every district
HM Land Registry price paid data for 2,322 postcode districts, twelve months to 31 July 2026: sales count, median, quartiles, by property type, and the year-on-year move — with council tax bands on the same page.

The figures are every standard residential sale HM Land Registry registered in the district in the twelve months to 31 July 2026 — 605,006 sales across England and Wales — summarised as a median with quartiles and split by property type. Repossessions, buy-to-let portfolio transfers and other non-standard sales are excluded. It is a district picture, not a valuation of one address: for a specific property, the Land Registry’s own price paid search lists individual sales by street.
How to read the numbers
The median is the middle sale — half sold for more, half for less — and it moves less than the average when a few very expensive homes change hands. The quartiles show the range the middle half of sales fell in; a wide gap means a mixed district (flats and large houses together), a narrow one a uniform street pattern. The year-on-year change compares medians of two twelve-month windows and is only shown where both had at least ten sales. Because Land Registry data arrives with a lag, the most recent month is always understated — the figures firm up on the next monthly refresh.

For landlords
Every district page pairs the sold-price median with the council tax band mix, the 2026/27 charges, how old the homes are and — where ONS publishes a local rent — the gross yield the median price implies. Run a purchase through the second-home stamp duty calculator, the mortgage stress test and the yield calculator; if you are selling, the capital gains tax calculator and the 60-day reporting deadline apply.
