About Landlord Tax Lab
An independent UK landlord tax resource with one rule: every number names its source and its date.
Landlord Tax Lab exists because landlord tax content on the internet is mostly marketing. Accountancy firms publish calculators to harvest leads; portals publish guides written once and left to rot; and the November 2025 Budget made half of it wrong overnight. We wanted the thing that didn’t exist: calculators and guides where every number names its source and its date.
How this site works
- One data file, verified against primary sources. Every rate on this site — income tax bands, CGT, SDLT/LBTT/LTT tables, MTD thresholds — lives in a single dataset checked against gov.uk, HMRC manuals, the Finance Act 2026 text, gov.scot, revenue.scot and gov.wales. The “last verified” date in the footer is real.
- Primary sources or silence. Where we could not verify something from an official source, the page says so plainly instead of guessing — you will find “could not verify” notes on this site, which is exactly why you can trust the rest.
- Corrections are published. When we get something wrong, the fix goes on the page with a note, not down a memory hole. See the editorial & corrections policy.
- Independent. This site may earn from clearly-disclosed advertising and referral links to software we genuinely rate. Nobody pays to change a number, and no lead forms harvest your details.
What this site is not
Not tax advice, not an accountancy firm, and not a substitute for one when your position is complicated. Calculators estimate. The value here is walking into HMRC guidance — or your adviser’s office — already holding the right starting numbers.
