This shows the band most homes in the district are in and what the council charges for it — the VOA’s own counts, not a guess. It is not a per-address lookup: for the exact band of one property use the official VOA search, then read the charge off the district page.
How the bands work
Every home in England and Wales sits in a council tax band set by the Valuation Office Agency from its value on 1 April 1991 (1 April 2003 in Wales). Each council sets a Band D charge for the year and the other bands follow fixed ratios — Band A is six-ninths of D, Band H twice D. So two things decide your bill: the band, and the council. These pages put both together for every postcode district, plus HM Land Registry’s sold prices for the same district.

Asked about this postcode
Not from a postcode alone — bands are set per address. This checker tells you the band most homes in your district are in and what it costs; the VOA search gives the exact band for one address.
Different bands (set from 1991 values), a different council across a boundary, or discounts such as the 25% single-person discount.
It depends on the band and the council. Band D ranges from about £1,028 to £2,765 across England; the council pages list every band.
